I ordered a JD4300, 4WD, hydro on 3/1/99 -- was told 3 to 4 weeks maximum delivery at that time. Now - 6 weeks later - I'm told it will be at least another 2 to 3 weeks. Dealer really had no explanation other than JD is falling behind on delivery of hydro units. Anyone else have this problem?Frankly, I'm a little mad -- I could have driven home an orange tractor the same day I ordered this one but the JD dealer insited he could deliver in under a month. Certainly not a cardinal sin to miss a delivery date -- but also not a good way to start a long term dealer-customer relationship either.

I tried to find one of those to demo around here (SE Michigan)and was told that they would not be available until mid June. The dealer only said the hydro manufacturer (Sundstrand) couldnot deliver the units, but didn't know why. ....

I had a similar experience. I originally ordered my 4300 hydro with the folding ROPS option. After three weeks I was told that there was not a build date scheduled and to expect another three to six weeks delay. Consequently, I bought the 4300 hydro my dealer had in stock without the folding ROPS.The fact that these tractors are in short supply probably ties in with the less than great deals that have been discussed on the message board. I suspect that until supply cathes up with demand that JD dealers are not going to willing to cut profit margins significantly. The good side to all of this is that out used 4000 series tractors should enjoy excellent value on trade or resale. ....

I ordered mine about the same time as you. The dealer told me flat out that it was going to take 6 to 8 weeks and possibly more. There is one sitting on the lot there that arrived about mid-march and took eight weeks from order. Could it be that your dealer quoted a shorter delivery so you wold not go over to the Orange store? I still want to know why this guy has not picked up his tractor in three weeks and if he would miss it.Doug ....

I was running into the same problem with a 4200 hydro with R4 tires. Luckily I found a dealer who had one ordered for another customer that cancelled the order to get a bigger 4400. Now I am waiting on a 420 loader and have been for 7 weeks. It seems that the backup is not only on the tractors. ....

from what i understand, these JD tractors (4300 & 4400) are in such high demand, that dealers are having trouble filling their retail sales. i know a guy that couldn't find a 4300 hydro, and actually found a dealer that would work hard to find one for him. he took delivery within a week. the orange tractors are more available because not as many people want them. deere is really hot right now, and if you want yours, wait patiently and you will get it. ....
